Expo 2020 Dubai announces 47 construction contracts worth AED 11bn for 2017

Expo 2020 Dubai will award 47 construction contracts worth AED 11 billion (3.0 billion USD) in 2017 as preparations for the first World Expo in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia continue to gather pace.

A further 98 non-construction contracts totalling more than AED 360 million (98 million USD) will also be distributed before the end of the year. These will range from legal advisory services to event management and merchandising.

The construction contracts for 2017, which are open to local, regional and international businesses, include the third and final infrastructure package for the event’s support areas, including car parking.

RTA extends operation of Smart Vehicle in Business Bay to Feb 22nd

The Roads and Transport Authority, in collaboration with Dubai Properties, announced the extension of the trial run of the autonomous vehicle deployed in the Business Bay by another month ending in Feb 22nd. The decision has been taken in response to the encouraging number of users of the vehicle, which is 1500 persons. The 10-seater vehicle has been deployed to shuttle over a 600 meter-long track in the Business Bay following the successes of the initial two phases of the trial operation at the Dubai World Trade Center and the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard.

RTA adopts seven initiatives to mark Year of Giving 2017

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has approved seven initiatives to be undertaken by RTA in response to the declaration of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, of the Year 2017 as The Year of Giving in the UAE.

Superbrands, the independent authority and arbiter of branding, announced that the voting process to choose the brands in the UAE which will be recognised and honoured as a Superbrand 2017 has commenced.
