DXB extends its lead as #1 airport for international passengers

Dubai International has retained its title as the world’s number one airport for international passengers after near record numbers in December propelled the hub’s annual traffic to 83.6 million passengers in 2016, according to the annual traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today.

With monthly passenger traffic breaching the 7-million mark six times during the year, including the historic 7.72 million traffic in August, DXB’s annual traffic in 2016 totalled 83,654,250 passengers, compared to 78,014,838 in 2015, a robust growth of 7.2 per cent. DXB welcomes 6.4 million passengers in October

Dubai International, the world’s leading international hub, welcomed 6.4 million passengers in October, according to the monthly traffic report issued today by operator Dubai Airports.

Passenger traffic at DXB reached 6,420,208 passengers compared to 6,250,810 recorded in the corresponding month last year, an increase of 2.7 per cent. Year to date, passenger numbers at DXB have risen 6.8 per cent to 69,366,094 compared to 64,947,684 recorded during the first ten months of 2015. DXB Voted World’s Best Airport for Layovers at the Conde Nast Traveller Awards 2016

Dubai International has been voted for the second consecutive year as the world’s Best Airport for Layovers at the Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards Middle East at a ceremony in Dubai on Monday.

Emirates signs multi-million dollar deal with Thales to provide IFEC solutions for new Boeing 777X fleet

Emirates announced it has signed an agreement with Thales to equip its Boeing 777X fleet with Thales AVANT inflight entertainment system. The airline will work in partnership with Thales to develop and enhance the state-of-the-art inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) system to be fitted on its new Boeing 777X aircraft due for delivery starting in mid-2020.

Emirates Airline Festival of Literature Annual Performance Poetry and Quiz Competitions Return for 2017

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature’s popular interactive competitions for school-children are back. The Readers’ Cup and Qasidah par Coeur competitions give students the chance to put their reading and performance poetry skills to the test. Last year 300 teams battled it out at the Readers’ Cup, while 190 students delighted audiences during the Qasidah par Coeur contest.
