December data highlighted a robust improvement in business conditions across Dubai’s private sector economy, underpinned by faster rates of output and new order growth. The seasonally adjusted Emirates NBD Dubai Economy Tracker Index registered 55.9, up from 55.2 in November and the highest reading since July. The index has now posted above the 50.0 no-change mark for ten months running and the latest upturn was broad-based across the three key sectors monitored by the survey.

The UAE’s non-oil private sector regained some growth momentum in November, thereby reversing the slowing trend seen in each of the prior three months. A robust expansion of new work was a key factor behind improving business conditions. Stronger demand also contributed to faster job creation and a marked rise in purchasing activity. Output also increased sharply, albeit at a slightly weaker pace than in October. On the price front, charges continued to fall in spite of higher purchasing costs. Some panellists indicated that they had offered discounts as part of sales initiatives.

Seven million passengers per month is fast becoming the norm at Dubai International (DXB) after September’s numbers eclipsed that total for the sixth time in nine months, according to the monthly traffic report issued today by operator Dubai Airports.
Passenger traffic at DXB passengers reached 7,094,738 compared to 6,432,654 recorded in the corresponding month last year, an increase of 10.3 per cent. Year to date, the world’s leading international hub has welcomed 62,945,091 up 7.2 per cent from the 58,696,877 recorded during the first nine months of 2015.
